On outskirts of Death Valley, the tiny town of Beatty, Nevada is a last chance watering hole for those passing through. After eating a burger and coke at the town diner, which was decorated with old photos of the area, I made Bowen stop so that I could photograph this intriguing little church. As I walked up to it, a man came out from the container next to it with some mechanic’s tools in hand, and we got to talking. It turns out, the former church is his home! His wife’s family bought the building from the Episcopal Diocese in a (relatively) nearby town and moved it to Beatty in the 1930’s. If you are ever heading west out of Vegas, Beatty is an incredible slice of America that is well worth a stop.
