Thanks for stopping in! You might have noticed that things are a little different around here. As with most of my creative endeavors, this blog is evolving and I am constantly redefining it in my head. I think my original tagline, that this is a blog about what I see, still sums it up best. I just found that I wasn’t fully satisfied by documenting street fashion alone because there is so much out there (in RI, and my head) that I want to share.
I’d love to get more feedback from you guys. What do you like? What don’t you like? What do you want to see more of? Constructive criticism? Let’s “start a dialogue” about art (Ian, are you listening?). Call me out when my posts get too cliché/contrived. Suggest other blogs that are inspiring, or send me the link to your own, and I’ll add them to my blogroll. Any ‘real’ photographers out there, I would love advice on taking better pictures. I’m really not a photographer, and am working with a point and shoot camera most days (except when I get to borrow my parents’ fancy SLR). I consider myself more of a documentarian. The content of my images is what is most important to me, but of course, so is the quality of the image and the composition of the frame.
Here’s the thing about this blog: it is ultimately about finding art/beauty/irony/the grotesque/confrontation/inspiration without traveling to a remote and photogenic location. Not to say that I wouldn’t post travel photographs (if I ever go anywhere). Rather, I think we become numbed to our everyday surroundings and sometimes forget to keep looking. So thats what I am making myself do.
I hope you enjoy it!
