Ikat Bag

So when I began my senior quilting project (I’ll explain another time) I sent out pleas for fabric scraps to the women in my choir at Emmanuel, and I received more unbelievably 80’s/tacky/fab prints than I could have dreamed.  I stole a bit of this marbled, pastel ikat number to make a little bag.  I was too excited about the project to think through a pattern, so I just sort of made it all by eye, no measuring (on the floor, of course).  The bottom is pleated, and it is lined with a deep purple cotton.  The webbing for the strap came from a vintage army backpack that I found in my family’s ski house (which sadly kicked the bucket after much love and use on my part) and is a divinely soft, olive drab cotton.
